Kevan was a Commercial Photographer based in Melbourne for 25 years.
He moved to Torquay with his family 8 years ago, and has had a directional change in his photography to a more art-based criteria. He has transferred his passion for the ocean to the camera.
Kevan conceived Surfcoastimages with a goal to introduce a diverse range of people to the ocean through his imagery. This went on to become a Gallery in its own right.
He specialises in large format panoramas produced as murals, and a range of contemporary photography.
He also now represents exclusively in Torquay surf photographers Peter 'Joli' Wilson and Stu Gibson, and abstract wave photographer Deb Morris.
The Gallery is on the beach at 2b Gilbert Street Torquay VIC 3228

Surf City Plaza is an entire precinct dedicated to surfing and includes the museum SurfWorld. Shopping heaven for surfers and lovers of all the top surf brands including Quiksilver, Rip Curl, Billabong, Beach Crew, Gash and Rojo. All these major outlets are open seven days a week.
Quiksilver and Rip Curl developed into world wide brands from their beginnings in Torquay. The town developed in pace with surfing and the surfers who went on to design boards and later the clothes worn by surfers.
You could easily spend 1 or 2 hours in this area, depending on your appetite for shopping.
Surf City Plaza is on the Surf Coast Highway on the northern outskirts of Torquay.

These guys are great. The staff is chill and helpful, exactly what you'd ask for from a surf/skate shop.
I went in to return a gift, thinking I'd be in and out in 5 minutes, but ended up spending 45 minutes there browsing around and getting my skateboard tuned up.
Great store - highly recommended.

Review by : Point Impossible Surf Beach
Point Impossible is a low, calcarenite point, capped by 10 m high foredunes and bordered by the mouth of Thompson Creek. The gravel road from Torquay runs out to the point, where there is a large car park. A small beach (Point Impossible Beach) lies in front of the car park and forms the western boundary of Thompson Creek. A foreshore reserve and the road back the 4.5 km long Whites Beach, with car parks and access tracks across the dune. The eastern section of the beach, just back from the point, is an official Optional Dress (nude) Beach.
The beach faces south-east and is protected to the south by Point Danger, and along the central-eastern section by extensive rock reefs. As a result, waves average 1 m at the beach and usually produce a continuous, shallow bar only cut by rips during and following high seas.

Review by: The Moto God
Hi everyone, recently I was fortunate enough to go on a pillion "Indian" motorbike ride down the Great Ocean Road. It was absolutely amazing! What a fantastic way to see the coastline and gorgeous beaches along the Surf Coast. Although I was a little apprehensive at first (it was my first time on a motorbike), it was such a relaxing experience and I could just sit back and enjoy the ride while seeing the awesome sites. If you are looking for a special gift idea, this is a perfect present for anyone, or for a treat for yourself. Thank you so much to Darren from The Moto God, this is an experience I will never forget!

Want to learn to surf in a non-competitive, supportive and fun environment? Look no further!
I'm not even sure where to begin! The shop is easy to find in Torquay and street parking is easy. The staff are relaxed and nice, and will help you find a good wetsuit (if the water's a bit cold like when I went.) It is an easy stroll to the beach from HQ, and the on-sand demos and instructions make sense.
Once in the water the instructors spend good time with you in a group lesson and make sure it's not frightening. It wasn't scary at all, and I met some nice girls in my group who I'm now friends with in Melbourne.
I've been to other surf schools where it felt competitive and I was afraid to ask questions, and I didn't get that here at all. I felt encouraged, and even when I was tired staff kept me motivated.
Initially I felt like a fish out of water, by the end I felt like a fish flying over the water. I became a lot more comfortable in the ocean and loved the feeling of riding a wave (okay, it was whitewater- but still, it was a beginning!!)
Rad place to go- get the stoke with this crew in Torquay!

By far the friendliest business in all of Torquay! I've been here a few times now as a patient plus 1. This time around it was me hiring the good gear.
The staff here are extremely relaxed, friendly and helpful. One side of the shop is a cute surfer cafe with great coffee and some interesting surf wear and the other side is the ocean toys hire. It's the perfect combination. Coffee and surf board.
Within 10mins I had my board, a basic how-to-do-it 101 and an offer of a hot shower when I returned. Win-Win.
The returning of gear is really easy.
No doubt that the next time I need to hire gear I'll be coming back here!
